Principles of Tafseer

Undoubtedly the Quran is the words of Allah (swt), the final Divine guidance for humanity and our primary source of Islamic legislation. Consequently, it is necessary for a student of knowledge to be able to acquire the correct meanings of the Quran and to be able to distinguish the accepted from the rejected meanings , authentic ones from weak and fabricated ones.  

In this interactive course we will be utilizing both classical (muqadimah fii usol al-tafseer)  and contemporary (al-tahreer fee usool al-tafseer)  works to give you a strong foundation in this very important science. The course will cover 5 broad units, namely: Definition and the history of usool tafseer, Sources of tafseer, Ways of doing Tafseer, ikhtilaaf & ijmaa‘ in tafseer and finally principles(qawaaid) of tafseer and Tarjeeh‘.
